The Denver Police Department bomb squad found two grenades in a pair of military-style ammunition boxes that somebody left near the intersection of East 17th Avenue and Emerson Street on Sunday.
Both grenades were “inert,” meaning they couldn’t explode, said police spokeswoman Vicki Ferrari.
Police blocked off two blocks of 17th Avenue between Clarkson and Ogden streets after a passer-by reported the boxes under a tree near the curb about 1:30 p.m. A bomb- squad truck came to the scene, and a member dressed in a protective suit and helmet approached the boxes about 2:30 p.m. and disposed of them.
Anyone with information should call the police, she added.
