THORNTON, Colo.—Thornton officials are asking residents if the city should break away from Adams County and form its own county.
City officials say the question was prompted by a tiff with Adams County following that county’s decision to cap the number of inmates at the Adams County jail.
According to the Denver Post ( ), opponents say breaking away would cost too much money to build its own facilities and provide services.
