Authorities say the EPA is testing samples from a metal plating company fire that destroyed a building on Monday.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office says fire crews began fighting the blaze before they knew about the hazardous chemicals inside Colorado Precision Plating in the 9800 block of 65th Street in Longmont. They had to be decontaminated, but are now fine.
Deputies say two people had to be evacuated from a home on the property. The EPA took samples late on Monday night to determine if the land is safe to live on. The homeowners have not been allowed to return to their home. Their names have not been released.
