The Arapahoe County Commissioners have OK’d a $332 million budget for 2012 that adds no new jobs for the year, but includes 1.6 percent merit salary increases and shares the increased cost of health-care coverage with employees.

In a written statement, the county said the budget protects core services and controls spending. Funding for senior transportation will also be the same as this year.

“Our budgeting process is designed to think about financial stability, not just next year, but beyond; to find ways to provide services at the most efficient cost while optimizing use of resources,” Commissioner Rod Bockendfeld said.

There budget locks in the employee count at 1,978 for 2012, the same as this year.
