A Denver man has been arrested by Broomfield police on suspicion of sexual exploitation of a child.

Matthew Rosario Splitt, 53, was taken into custody on Tuesday after he arranged to meet a 15-year-old Broomfield girl, according to a Broomfield Police Department media release.

Splitt had been having “sexually oriented conversations using social media ‘chat’ rooms and cellular text messages” with the girl since August, police said.

In the exchanges Splitt had “requested explicit pictures” and offered the girl drugs and alcohol, police said.

Investigators executed a search warrant at Splitt’s home on Tuesday where several computers and computer equipment were seized. Forensic examination of the items is ongoing.

Splitt is free on a $10,000 bond.

He’s scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 19.
