
The SOS (Save Our Symphony) call has been sounded, and friends of the Colorado Symphony are stepping up to the plate in an effort to put the orchestra on better financial footing.
A holiday-themed reception held at the Governor’s Mansion sold out mere days after invitations were issued, with former Gov. Dick Lamm and former first lady Bea Romer among those returning to their one-time home to applaud messages of support from current Gov. John Hickenlooper and Mayor Michael Hancock.
Meanwhile, Jewish Family Service filled the Ellie Caulkins Opera House for its annual fundraiser, Reel Hope. The event chaired by Debra Duke and Kerry Shelanski featured a premiere showing of “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy” and raised $428,000 for JFS and its efforts on behalf of the hungry, the aged and those with physical or mental challenges.
