FORT COLLINS, Colo.—A Larimer County sheriff’s deputy got some help from a former inmate when the deputy was attacked near Loveland this week.
Sheriff’s officials say that when the deputy stopped to check on a vehicle parked along a road Thursday night, one of the two men at the scene gave a false name that was shown as having an outstanding warrant. When the deputy tried to arrest him, he allegedly punched the deputy in the face.
A second man helped control the suspect. Authorities say the second man was a former inmate who stepped in because he remembered the deputy had treated him fairly.
The first man, 19-year-old Donovan James Boggs of Loveland, faces charges of criminal impersonation, second-degree assault on an officer, and driving while his license was under restraint.
