When it comes to energy, Colorado is well-endowed, according to “Resource Rich Colorado,” a companion study to the Metro Denver Economic Development Corp.’s “Toward a More Competitive Colorado.”
A snapshot of where Colorado stacks up among the states:
• Third in proven natural-gas reserves, behind Texas and Wyoming, with 23,058 billion cubic feet.
• 10th in oil reserves, with 279 million barrels.
• 12th in installed wind-power capacity, with 1,299 megawatts in 2010.
• Fourth in installed solar, behind California, Nevada and Florida, with 35 megawatts.
• 10th in coal reserves, with 314 billion short tons.
