Fabian Kling of Fort Lewis was named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division II player of the year after he led the Skyhawks to the national championship.
Kling, a senior center defender, was the defensive MVP of the final four.
• New University of Colorado women’s soccer coach Danny Sanchez hired two of his former assistants at Wyoming, Jason Green and Don Trentham, to take similar roles at CU.
Klinsmann selects Larentowicz. Colorado Rapids midfielder Jeff Larentowicz has been named to the 20-man roster by U.S. Men’s National Team coach Jurgen Klinsmann for the team’s upcoming training camp and friendlies (vs. Venezuela, Jan. 21, at Glendale, Ariz.; vs. Panama, Jan. 25, at Panama City).
DU’s Zucker on U.S. junior team. The University of Denver’s Jason Zucker is one of seven returning players named to USA Hockey’s U.S. National Junior Team that will compete at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship from Monday to Jan. 5 in Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta. Zucker won gold with the NJT in 2010.
