For Jerry Lanser’s presidential campaign, it’s Tebow time. “In other words, if there’s not a miracle, it’s over,” he said.

The 61-year-old Longmont resident launched his longshot bid for the U.S. presidency in August and admits that his bid is probably not going to pan out. But he’s still technically running. The crux of Lanser’s agenda is to replace income taxes with a 20 percent national sales tax on all goods and services except for food, rent and exports. That, combined with a balanced-budget amendment to restrict the federal government’s spending, would put the country back on the right track, said Lanser, who identifies as a Republican and is an adherent of the Tea Party.
