For Jerry Lanser’s presidential campaign, it’s Tebow time.

“In other words, if there’s not a miracle, it’s over,” he said.

The 61-year-old Longmont resident who launched his long-shot bid for president of the United States in August admits that his bid is probably not going to pan out. But he’s still technically running.

The crux of Lanser’s agenda is to get rid of income taxes and replace them with a 20 percent national sales tax on all goods and services except for food, rent and exports. That, combined with a balanced budget amendment to restrict the federal government’s spending, would put the country back on the right track, said Lanser, who identifies as a Republican and member of the tea party.
