BOULDER — The 29th annual Polar Bear Plunge to benefit Alzheimer’s services and research will take place at noon New Year’s Day at the Boulder Reservoir.

Young Professionals Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado hosts the frigid dive into the reservoir to raise money for services and programs for families affected by Alzheimer’s, as well as to fund research into a cure. Last year, roughly 900 “plungers” raised nearly $30,000.

Registration costs $25 for adults and $20 for people ages 17 and younger. Participants can register online at or by calling 303-813-1669. People can also register onsite on New Year’s Day, starting at 10:30 a.m.
