ASPEN, Colo.—It’s more expensive to ski at Aspen.

Aspen Skiing Co. has raised its walk-up, single-day lift ticket to $108, the second price hike in two weeks. The Aspen Daily News reported Tuesday that skiers also pay an extra $5 for the plastic card that serves as the lift ticket. They get that money back if they return the card.

Last-minute skiing at Aspen still costs less than at Vail or Beaver Creek, which charge $116.

Aspen Skiing spokesman Jeff Hanle said the price was raised because the cost of doing business continues to increase.

Ski areas often raise prices in the busy period between Christmas and New Year’s.

Most people buy tickets in advance and get discounts using multi-day packages.
