A Colorado Springs liquor store was robbed twice within a two-hour span the day after Christmas, police said.
A man tried to take off with several bottles of liquor without paying for the merchandise at about 6 p.m. Monday at J’s Liquor, 31 E. Fillmore Road, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department crime blotter.
At about 7:45 p.m., another man jumped the counter at the store, punched a clerk in the eye and stole cash from the register, police said.
In the earlier shoplifting incident, the suspect battled store employees who detained him. Ron Mullens, 36, was arrested on suspicion of robbery and resisting, police said.
In the second incident, a man in a black hoodie entered the store and was talking with a clerk when he jumped the counter, punched the clerk in the left eye and fled with cash from the register.
The robber ran down an alley and remains at large.
