DENVER—Denver prosecutors say a 39-year-old man suspected of driving drunk faces criminal charges after a passenger in his car jumped to his death from the moving vehicle.
Prosecutors on Wednesday filed charges of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence against Jeffrey Harrington. Denver District Attorney spokeswoman Lynn Kimbrough says investigators believe Harrington and passenger David Truax were “horsing around” on the early morning hours of Dec. 23 when Truax opened the door and jumped out of the car.
It’s unknown whether Truax was intoxicated. Kimbrough says a toxicology report for Truax is pending the completion of his autopsy.
Harrington is free on $50,000 bail and is due in court Jan. 10 to be advised of the charges.
