BRECKENRIDGE, Colo.—Breckenridge is promising to wow people with a traditional New Year’s Eve fireworks display.
The resort town scaled back its Fourth of July display because of the wildfire danger and the lack of safe places to launch fireworks in town, disappointing many in the crowd.
The Summit Daily News ( ) reports that fireworks will be launched outside of downtown at the Breckenridge Ski Resort. The display, complete with a big finale, will be visible from downtown and from some outlying areas.
The ski area and the town are splitting the $11,000 cost.
The display begins at 9 p.m.
