The recently named Color of the Year for 2012, according to the Pantone Color Institute, will come as little surprise to fans of modern interiors or contemporary artwork.
“Tangerine Tango,” a deep, sultry, attention-getting reddish orange, is on point for 2012 because it provides an instant energy boost. Pantone chose Honeysuckle, a vibrant pink, last year because it encouraged “verve and vigor” in the face of adversity, and Turquoise for 2009 because it provides a sense of escape.
But this new year is all about getting energized.
“Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow,” Leatrice Eiseman, Pantone’s chief color expert, said in a statement about 2012’s namesake shade.
