COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A Colorado Springs man suspected of having explosives at his home was arrested after neighbors reported hearing loud bangs.
Authorities say 57-year-old Edward Kiley faces a charge of possession of explosive/incendiary devices and is being held on $250,000 bail. He’s due in court Jan. 9.
The Colorado Springs Gazette reports ( ) that the explosions were heard Thursday evening. No injuries were reported. But authorities say eight homes were evacuated Friday morning as a bomb squad and agents from the federal Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms removed explosives from Kiley’s home.
Colorado Springs police Sgt. Michael Spitzmiller says he thinks Kiley was trying to make homemade fireworks.
