WESTMINSTER, Colo.—A Colorado state trooper is recovering from minor injuries after he was dragged about 100 yards during a traffic stop near Westminster.
The Colorado State Patrol says the trooper was trying to question a driver Wednesday night about giving a false name when the driver pulled away.
The trooper was injured when he tried to take the keys out of the ignition.
Authorities say 21-year-old Joshua Fitzgerald of Arvada was booked into jail Thursday morning on charges of first-degree assault of an officer, resisting arrest, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, criminal impersonation, possession of drug paraphernalia and aggravated driving under restraint as a habitual traffic offender.
