Mountain communities might be complaining about a lack of the white stuff, but that’s not keeping Denver business and tourism promoters from planning Mile High SnowFest, a variety of art and entertainment events to coincide with the Jan. 26-29 SIA Snow Show.

Some 19,000 people attend SIA, the snow sports’ industry’s biggest annual trade show and for the third year, Visit Denver, the Convention & Visitors Bureau, has scheduled events for both locals and those in town for the show.

The previously announced Winter on the Rocks concert at Red Rocks Jan. 27 will feature R&B star Common and the hip hop band Atmosphere, and on Jan. 26, Snowdown at City Hall will include acts on five stages, including Dilated Peoples.

A multi-site art exhibit will highlight ski and snowboard art at the Colorado Convention Center and on Larimer Square. The Colorado Filmmakers Project is also sharing footage on LED screens throughout downtown Denver. The Denver Pavilions is showcasing 3-D chalk art, there will be free skating at the rink at Skyline Park, and restaurants and bars are planning specials. Details on all the events will be listed on
