The Colorado Rapids on Friday signed defender Hunter Freeman, who played with the Rapids in 2005 and 2006.

Freeman played two seasons with the Rapids before being traded to the New York Red Bulls. He later joined Toronto FC in 2008 before playing two seasons in Norway. He returned to Major League Soccer in 2011 with the Houston Dynamo.

The Rapids selected him in stage two of last month’s MLS re-entry draft, with Colorado also acquiring the rights to Baggio Husidic, who opted not to sign a contract with MLS. Freeman is the first offseason signing for the Rapids and the first player to join the club under new coach Oscar Pareja.
