
Police on Thursday evening were searching for a man suspected of car jacking a motorist just before 6 p.m. on the 1800 block of Hover Street, according to Longmont police dispatches.
Officers were looking for a gray Mazda 6 with Texas tags. The car is a rental. Police were led to the area 51st Street and Jay road by tracking the alleged victim’s cellular phone, which was left in the vehicle. Officers located the phone, but it was not with the vehicle.
The man told police that a white man with a shaved head and tattoos under both eyes and on his neck, stated he had a gun, and took the car from the parking lot between a T-Mobile store and the Diamond Shamrock gas station, according to dispatches. The suspect was described as standing about 5-feet, 7-inches tall and was last seen wearing a black hoodie.
Anyone who sees the vehicle should call 911.
