Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park offers a variety of winter activities, including winter camping and sledding. Backcountry areas can be reached on snowshoes and skis, and at lower elevations, all you need are hiking boots. Elk, coyotes, deer, snowshoe hares and other wildlife remain active. Orangetheory Fitness opens

Today:Orangetheory Fitness bases its workouts on burning extra calories up to 36 hours after you exercise. Lafayette Quicker Quaker 5K Run/Walk

Saturday: Discounted registration in advance through Thursday. Race registration is at Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts, 200 E. Baseline Road, from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Races starts at 9:30. Electronic-chip timing will be used for all runners. Entry fees vary and include an oatmeal breakfast ticket. Winter Meltdown Challenge

Registration deadline Jan. 19: The Lafayette Recreation Department is sponsoring an eight-week community challenge to lose weight and form healthy fitness habits. There are two participation levels to choose from including a Nutrition Only Level and a Fitness/Nutrition Level. Fees vary. The female and male who lose the largest percentage of body weight each win an annual pass. Punch cards will be awarded through random drawings during the challenge. Catch Healthy Habits

Jan 21: Seniors’ Resource Center has partnered with the OASIS Institute, a national education organization dedicated to enriching the lives of adults age 50 and older, for a new program that pairs adults age 50-plus with children in grades K-5 to encourage healthy eating and physical activity. Sessions last eight weeks and include a nutrition lesson, a snack and 30 minutes of vigorous and physical games.
