The transient man accused of stabbing a woman to death in Capitol Hill in 2004 today pleaded not guilty in Denver District Court.

Billy Wilson, 42, faces one count of first-degree murder after deliberation, two counts of felony murder and one count of second-degree kidnapping related to the cold case.

Prosecutors say that on the morning of Aug. 21, 2004, Wilson attacked Gina Gruenwald, 27, in the 1700 block of Lafayette Street.

Authorities caught up to Wilson last year in San Francisco after he was arrested in relation to an unrelated crime.

His DNA was entered into a national database and led Denver investigators to arrest him.

His trial has been set for April 24.
