SILVERTON — Silverton Mountain is dropping its price for helicopter drops on its last weekend of unguided skiing and snowboarding until April.
The experts-only mountain in southwest Colorado is offering lift-ticket holders a single helicopter drop onto the Pyramid Zone for $50 Thursday to Sunday. Silverton Mountain owner Aaron Brill said Monday that the spot hasn’t been skied yet this season.
The mountain rarely gets more than 200 visitors per day. Brill says he won’t make any money on the helicopter deal but hopes it pays off in the long run. He quips that he’s taking the “drug dealer approach” by giving people a cheap taste of “heli-skiing” to see if they’ll want more. A single run is typically $159.
