BOULDER, Colo.—The Colorado Avalanche Information Center is warning backcountry skiers that the danger of avalanches is considerable in several Colorado mountains.
The center said Thursday the danger extends to the Steamboat and Flat Tops mountains near and above tree line, the Vail and Summit areas and Berthoud Pass.
The center says strong west and north winds drifted snow into dangerous wind slabs on many steep slopes.
