Q. I’ve been looking into a two-night vacation in Santa Fe (leaving from Denver) and was wondering if you had any suggestions on places to stay, particularly for a young couple looking to spend around $90 a night in a hip, less-touristy part of town. — M. Amodeo, Denver
A. The El Rey Inn (1862 Cerrillos Road, 800-521-1349, ) is a historic motor court that since 1936 has been parked along this slightly less favorable but up-and-coming busy thoroughfare, which is about 10 minutes from the Plaza and Museum Hill. The rooms are nothing fancy but they start at $105 right now, and there’s a heated pool, free Wi-Fi, and a continental breakfast is included. What’s really cool here is the Spanish Colonial exterior, with its lush landscaping. — Kyle Wagner
