DURANGO, Colo.—Durango-La Plata County Airport is reporting a record number of commercial airline boardings for a sixth year in a row.

The airport’s director of aviation Ron Dent says 175,019 passengers boarded commercial flights at the airport in 2011. That’s up 5.7 percent from 165,581 in 2010.

Dent says a major contributor to the increase was a roundtrip flight that American Eagle launched on June 9 between Durango and Dallas-Fort Worth.

The Durango Herald reports ( ) the airport also has flights to Phoenix and Denver.
