In the past, when Miami came to town, it was an opportunity for Heat guard Dwyane Wade to get together with his good friend, Carmelo Anthony. Time, and a trade, has changed that dynamic.
Now, Wade’s trips to Denver are much more business than pleasure.
“It’s a little different,” Wade said. “We played them last year (here) after the trade happened, and it was different. Melo obviously was a great player here in Denver. I lost a lot to him in Denver. So it’s kind of good not seeing him on the other side now.”
“But they’ve moved on,” Wade added. “They have a very good team, very good players, one of the deepest teams in the NBA.”
More playing time for Brewer? Evidence of how deep the Nuggets are includes forward Corey Brewer, who continues to play well. Questions continue to pile in on Nuggets coach George Karl as to why he can’t find more playing time for the energetic Brewer.
Brewer has flourished in the Nuggets’ up-tempo system. But he’ll have to continue to do so with limited minutes, as Karl’s rotation hasn’t allowed for much wiggle room.
“Every guy in that locker room thinks they should be playing more time,” Karl said. “Every guy in that locker room thinks he should be getting more time, more money, more opportunity. … I think Corey’s great. I’m sure he wants to play more. Will the opportunity present itself? He’s the third, fourth option. Sometimes you go there, sometimes you don’t go there.”
