Fort Lewis College men’s soccer coach Oige Kennedy was selected NCAA Division II coach of the year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Kennedy has guided Fort Lewis to two national championships and a 59-7-4 record in three years with the Skyhawks. Fort Lewis has had two 24-1 seasons, in 2009 and 2011.

“The amount of success that Oige has had in such a short period of time as a head coach is just extraordinary,” Fort Lewis athletic director Gary Hunter said.

Fabian Kling, a Fort Lewis senior defender from Germany, was selected D-II’s player of the year.

North Carolina-Charlotte’s Jeremy Gunn, who coached Fort Lewis from 1999-2007, was named the Division I coach of the year.

DU duo drafted by MLL. University of Denver seniors Mark Matthews and Alex Demopoulos were selected Friday night in the Major League Lacrosse draft.

Matthews was selected fourth overall by the Denver Outlaws. Demopoulos was picked 24th overall by the expansion Ohio Machine.
