The presidential primaries are on, so expect a growing list of new and updated smartphone and tablet applications to cover every inch of the 2012 campaign. The CNN App for Android and Apple devices, from CNN Interactive Group Inc., is free. For live feeds from the news network, the app requires users to have a cable-company account. But even if you don’t, there’s a lot of very fresh video and text, and much of it is focused on the primaries and campaigns.
CNN said last week that a Windows Phone version would be out within the month. CNNiReport is a feature of the app that makes it easy for users to send in video or photos. There’s a request posted for voters to share them on election days — but not from inside a polling place. The network calls these requests “assignments.”
“Snap a photo or do an interview, and share it with iReport,” the 2012 election-assignment suggests. Submissions may end up on CNN, it says.
