LONGMONT — A student at Longmont High School has tested positive for tuberculosis, health officials announced Tuesday.
The Times-Call reported that Dr. Randall Reves, medical director for the Denver Metro TB Control Program, stressed that the strain is not drug-resistant and there is no outbreak of the disease.
The student, who has not been identified, was diagnosed at the end of the holidays, Reves said.
St. Vrain Valley School District spokesman John Poynton said the district began notifying parents Tuesday. Reves told the Times-Call that about 20 people will be tested this week for exposure.
