TELLURIDE, Colo.—Authorities are trying to determine why a 52-year-old man died after trying to board a van for late-night drinkers.

The Telluride Marshal’s Office says Patrick Morris died early Sunday after being run over by a Home Safe van. The free bus service offers rides home on weekends to deter people from driving drunk.

According to the Telluride Daily Planet ( ), the marshal’s office says Morris tried to board a van and when he found out it was full, he lay down in front of the van and was run over. Witnesses say he may have been intoxicated.
