Southwest Airlines plans to refurbish interior cabins on its fleet of Boeing 737-700s, boosting the number of seats from 137 to 143.
The $60 million retrofitting, the first cabin makeover for the Dallas-based carrier in more than a decade, begins in March and is expected to wrap up in 2013 . Legroom will not be reduced, officials said, although the distance between the back of the seat and the seat behind it is shrinking by 1 inch.
