The Pitkin County Sheriff has identified Keith Ames as the skier who died Wednesday afternoon in an avalanche.
The 43-year-old Aspen resident was buried while skiing in an out-of-bounds area of Burnt Mountain near Snowmass.
The incident occurred about 1:37 p.m. and nearby skiers performed CPR on Ames for almost an hour in an effort to save him.
