A Greeley man was arrested Thursday for the 2000 murder of a 24-year-old woman in Baltimore, Md.
Alexander Charles Bennett, 32, was taken into custody in Greeley at about 5:30 p.m. and placed in the Jefferson County Jail, where he is being held for his murder warrant and will face extradition proceedings to Baltimore County, according to a news release.
Officials with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation said they matched Bennett’s DNA sample in September 2011 with unknown DNA recovered from the murder scene.
Heidi Louise Bernadzikowski, 24, was found in her home just before 9 a.m. April 20, 2000.
