F.E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo.—Air Force agents are investigating the shooting death of an airman at a Wyoming missile base, but few details have been released.
Capt. Angela Webb said Saturday the Office of Special Investigations is examining the death of 21-year-old Airman 1st Class Brandon Tafoya at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne.
Tafoya was from Westminster, Colo. He died Wednesday night.
The Air Force hasn’t said whether the shooting was deliberate or whether anyone else was involved. Webb didn’t know what kind of gun was involved or whether it was an Air Force-issued weapon.
Warren is home to the 90th Missile Wing, which operates 150 Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missiles in silos across eastern Wyoming, western Nebraska and northern Colorado.
Webb says Warren’s mission wasn’t affected.
