Who is Colorado’s most under-recruited football senior still left uncommitted? One athlete who can make a strong case is Valor Christian defensive tackle Javaughn Johnson.
Johnson’s play was crucial in Valor’s past two state titles.
Despite being a little shorter than what BCS college coaches desire, at 5-foot-11, he’s been getting steady attention.
“Right now, I’m talking with CSU-Pueblo; Eastern Washington sent me a letter, Nebraska-Kearney, and I’m going to try and apply at (Northern Colorado),” Johnson said.
This senior does not seem in a hurry to decide even with Signing Day around the corner (Feb. 1).
Quick Hitters:
• Prairie View offensive lineman Landon Cunning is focused on two colleges: “It is CSU-Pueblo and Western State," he said.
• Castle View offensive lineman Parker Kitching has the size that college coaches desire, and that has opened the door in terms of recruiting. “It is CSU-Pueblo, Concordia in Nebraska, Hastings, and (Northern Colorado). Those are my four right now.”
• Mullen defensive end Daniel McQueen is all over the board on the recruiting front. “There are schools like CSU-Pueblo, McKendree University, Northwest Missouri State, South Dakota State, and a couple of other schools. There has been Wagner College, New York State University of Albany, Montana State, and schools like that," he said.
• Fountain-Fort Carson defensive end Morgan Fox is still waiting to pull the trigger on a college decision. "Right now, I’m looking at CSU-Pueblo and Adams State. They are the other schools that have offered. Colorado State just started talking to me and I am sending them film.” Added Fox, “(The Northern Colorado visit) got rescheduled.”
