Jamie Woodruff has returned for his second go-round heading Ponderosa football.

The Mustangs are thrilled to have him back, athletic director Tim Ottmann said, “because obviously he has a proven success rate.”

As coach of the Douglas County District school from 1993 to 2006, Woodruff compiled a record of 102-49. The Mustangs won the 2003 Class 5A state championship. They also made the state quarterfinals in 1996, 1996 and 1998, and the semifinals in 1997 and 1998. Neil H. Devlin, The Denver Post

Thomas headed to North Carolina State. Former Colorado State quarterback Pete Thomas, who was granted his release from the school Jan. 17 after throwing for 1,607 yards and seven touchdowns with eight interceptions in nine games during his sophomore season, announced he is transferring to North Carolina State, where he will have two seasons of eligibility remaining after sitting out the 2012 season.

CU loses two football players. reported that Colorado offensive lineman Paulay Asiata and wide receiver Austin Vincent are leaving the program after one season in Boulder. Asiata was the only member of the 2011 CU recruiting class rated with four stars by the major recruiting services.
