MADISON, S.D.—An official with a Denver-based college has been named the interim president of Dakota State University in South Dakota.

David Borofsky is provost and chief academic officer at Westwood College, which has 18 sites in six states. The South Dakota Board of Regents says he will begin his duties on DSU’s Madison campus in early February and serve in a temporary capacity until mid-2013.

Former DSU President Douglas Knowlton resigned last year to take a vice chancellor position with the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System. A search for his permanent successor is expected to start this summer. Members of a search committee are to be appointed in June.
