DENVER—A former Boulder County social worker was sworn in as the newest Democratic state representative.

Rep. Jonathan Singer of Longmont was sworn in during a ceremony Friday. He is replacing former Rep. Deb Gardner, who resigned to be a Boulder County commissioner.

A vacancy committee selected Singer last Saturday. He will be serving in the House Economic and Business Development Committee.

Republicans hold a 33-32 voting advantage in the House.
