RANGELY, Colo.—Authorities say a 17-month-old boy has died after he was run over by a small front-end loader driven by his father.

The Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Department said Monday the front-end loader was backing up when the child was run over Sunday outside a residence in an unincorporated area near Rangely.

No names have been released.

The sheriff’s department says the boy was taken to Rangely District Hospital with massive head injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The sheriff’s department says no charges have been filed.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is helping Rio Blanco deputies with the investigation.
