COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A judge says a woman charged with dragging a tow-truck driver to his death will go on trial although two DVDs showing police interviews with witnesses are missing.
The Colorado Springs Gazette reports () the judge ruled Monday that an evidence violation occurred but that Detra Farries’ lawyers can question police about the missing DVDs.
Prosecutors have produced transcripts of the witness interviews. Farries’ lawyers say the DVDs might have shown the witnesses have changed details of their stories that were helpful to Farries.
Farries faces charges including manslaughter, vehicular homicide and leaving the scene.
Authorities say Allen Lew Rose became entangled in a cable when Farries drove away as he was preparing to tow her vehicle in 2011. Farries’ relatives say she didn’t realize Rose was being dragged.
