DENVER—A major winter storm is spreading across Colorado, bringing warnings of heavy snow across the state and possible blizzards on the Eastern Plains.

The National Weather Service says by the time the storm diminishes on Saturday, parts of eastern Colorado could receive up to two feet of snow. Western Colorado is expecting up to a foot of snow.

Forecasters are urging limited travel. Those who do travel over the next few days are urged to take survival kits that include extra food, water, a flashlight and dry clothing.
