A woman killed Saturday after her car collided with a fire engine has been identified as Marlene J. Edwards, 80.

She was driving a Hyundai Sonata when she failed to yield for the firetruck, Denver police said. The fatal accident happened at about 11:20 a.m. at the intersection of East Hampden Avenue and South Yosemite Street. The fire engine had its lights and siren going and was responding to a kitchen fire, according to a Denver Fire Department spokesman.

Although police initially said Edwards ran a red light, a witness told The Denver Post that she had a green light.
