CARBONDALE, Colo.—Two men have been arrested on charges of making and selling forged immigration and Social Security cards in Eagle County.
The sheriff’s department says a detective posing as an illegal immigrant bought fake documents from 41-year-old Sergio Edwin Garcia Carranza on Wednesday.
Authorities say detectives raided a location in Carbondale and seized cash, fake cards and $2,000 worth of equipment allegedly used to make fake cards. Deputies arrested 30-year-old Victor Daniel Vazquez Cortes.
The men are being held on suspicion of forgery and possession of forged instruments, both felonies.
Both are from Carbondale and are being held in lieu of $5,000 bond each.
Jail officials say they don’t keep records on inmates’ attorneys.
The sheriff’s department says a tip from a resident led to the arrests.
