Multiple crashes have made traffic slow-going on Interstate 70 in both directions this afternoon.

Colorado State Patrol responded to multiple pile-up accidents just east of the Genesee exit on I-70 east lanes.

Trooper Josh Lewis, acting as spokesman for CSP, said the accidents appear to have started when a semi-tractor trailer started weaving in traffic and ended up blocking parts of the highway.

Other cars tried to avoid the semi and also crashed.

Lewis said troopers are still trying to determine exactly how many cars are involved in the multiple seperate accidents, but knows that one accident involved five cars.

One minor injury was reported.

Lewis said that part of the highway is still open, and troopers are guiding traffic through the accidents, but traffic is backing up.

Colorado Department of Transportation is reporting the road closed eastbound just a mile away from the pile ups, and another mile away eastbound, where only one lane is open.
