POCATELLO, Idaho—Montana State guard Katie Bussey set a school scoring record with 41 points in the Bobcats’ 79-67 overtime win over Big Sky Conference-leading Idaho State.
The senior from Alamosa, Colo., helped MSU rally from a 16-point first-half deficit Thursday night in Pocatello, Idaho. Bussey scored 31 points in the second half and overtime, including a jumper with 6.1 seconds left in regulation to tie the score at 65.
Bussey’s 41 points broke the previous MSU scoring mark of 40 points held by Cass Bauer (1994) and Marcia Top (1980) and tied the Big Sky scoring record set by Shannon Cate of Montana in 1991 and matched by Kelsey Kahle of Portland State in 2007.
The win gave coach Tricia Binford 99 career wins at MSU, breaking the old mark of 98 wins set by Judy Spoelstra.
Binford will go for her 100th win when MSU hosts rival Montana on Saturday afternoon.
