BOULDER, Colo.—A 22-year-old University of Colorado student is in fair condition after spending seven to eight hours in calf-deep water in a partially frozen ditch.
Police say Grant Munski said he’d been drinking Sunday night and fell into the ditch around 2:30 a.m Monday. He was at the bottom of a 5- to 6-foot embankment and apparently too weak to call for help.
The Daily Camera reports ( ) a Lafayette Water worker found Munski in the mouth of a culvert in the ditch around 10 a.m Monday.
Boulder fire Lt. Joe Savino says Munski was crouched in calf-deep water that had partially frozen over, and firefighters had to break up the ice to free one of his legs.
Munski had frostbite on his toes.
