LONGMONT, Colo.—Former Hygiene Fire Chief Bill Nelson is ready to start serving his sentence on convictions of prohibited use of a weapon and driving under the influence.
The Daily Times-Call reports Nelson was booked at the Boulder County Jail on Monday to be fitted for a monitor to begin 20 days of home confinement. He had pleaded guilty to DUI, the weapons charge and a petty marijuana possession charge.
He was accused of using the volunteer firefighter emergency lights on his truck to stop another vehicle last year. A witness called 911.
Police said Nelson appeared intoxicated at the time, and they reported finding a gun and marijuana in his truck.
His sentence included two years of probation, 96 hours of community service and home detention.
